MiRESSO Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Aomori Prefecture, Japan; Representative Director and CEO: Masaru Nakamichi; “MiRESSO”) has begun full-scale construction of BETA (Beryllium Testing Plant in Aomori), a pilot facility designed to demonstrate the technical and economic viability of the company’s proprietary low-temperature refining technology. BETA is being constructed on the premises of Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, with which MiRESSO has entered into a capital and business alliance.
BETA is designed to demonstrate the entire production process, from beryllium ore through refining to the production of beryllium products.*¹. By applying MiRESSO’s proprietary low-temperature refining technology at pilot scale, the company will comprehensively evaluate operational stability, product quality, productivity, and other key performance parameters.
In August 2026, MiRESSO obtained the manufacturing permit from Japan’s Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare required for the production of beryllium products. Following preparations for foundation work, full-scale construction will begin on October 1, 2026.
With construction now moving into full scale, MiRESSO will accelerate the development of the facility and preparations for future demonstration operations. Drawing on data generated through BETA, the company will further advance its low-temperature refining technology and commercialization efforts, with the goal of establishing a production process that supports the stable production of beryllium products.

MiRESSO Co., Ltd. is a startup founded on beryllium refining research initiated by CEO Masaru Nakamichi during his time at Japan’s National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST).
Through its proprietary low-temperature refining technology, MiRESSO has reduced the temperature required to dissolve beryllium ore from approximately 2,000°C using conventional methods to approximately 300°C. The company aims to establish a stable supply of beryllium for fusion energy and a broad range of other industries.
